Level of questions in OG

Hello Friends,

Could you please give me an idea as to where should I think I stand with respect to GMAT preparation if I can answer the SC questions in official guide at a success rate of 75% with 1.75 minutes per question.

I do not want to take simuated tests unless I have developed some confidence.

OG questions mimic the logic/feel of the actual test very very well. That said, OG questions can sometimes be a bit too simple, although they do noticeably pick up in difficulty in the last third of each section. It depends on what your target score is but in likelihood you want to get that accuracy level up (although 75% is a great foundation for moving forward!)

That said, I would not necessarily hold off too long in sitting down for a practice test. I understand the sentiment of wanting to consolidate learnings before writing a practice test but there are at least two reasons for writing practice tests early in your preparation as well: a) you want to get used to the adaptive nature of the exam, answering questions on the computer, and you also want to get used to the stamina required to sit through the length of the exam and b) practice tests are a great way to guage your profile of strengths/weaknesses and the frequency of topics tested, which allows you to usefully allocate study time.

I meant I get 75% even in the last sections. With that score, Any idea where I can stand in terms of score. The 75% score stands in RC and CR as well.

Well, that's sort of a tough question to answer without knowing about your timing. Assuming you are hitting 75% on even the hard questions in all three verbal sections within prorated time limits, then that kind of performance should be able to buy you at least 60th percentile but probably not more than 80th percentile within the verbal section. (I am also ignoring any test-day anxiety issues and the fact that OG questions are on paper while the GMAT will be on the computer).
