IMO [C]

"they" refers to Hussains of various periods..

I am not sure what "on account of having" is modifying..

Although I went for E but on reading the sentence again and again realized C is right as "they" refers to Hussains

here Christrles, is the subject - singular subject. So, when it is referred - we should not use plural pronouns. So, first eliminate B, C.
because is concise and keeps the meaning compared to "on account of".

So, the final answer comes down to D and E.

I would choose E because it refers clearly to "christlers". Another tip i use is i normally eliminate "having", "being" stuff..GMAT does not like them...

My problem stems from my inability to identify the correct subject- Christlers or Hussains, in this case.
This ways, it would be easier to determine whether to use have/has (options C or E).

Can anyone help, please?

IMO E

A & B - On account - wrong usage
here the main subject is christles, because it is christles which has achieved the iconic status.

Christlers is singular and this has been told to us by verb 'owns'. Therefore, B, C and D are out.
On account of having is not good, A is out

IMO E. What is OA?

What is the source of this question?

I am between C and E. More tilted towards E.
Not sure what achieved an iconic status in the English art circle. Is it Hussains or Christler.

I dont see it explicitly in the question.

If it refers to HUSSAINS, then C
if it refers to CHRISTLER, then E.

Anyone to help me understand this?

The original sentence means that Hussains achieved an iconic status in art circle.

So "they" must be used.

Hence C is correct.

In option E it refers to "Christlers" which is not correct.If "achieved an iconic status" need to modify Christlers,the modifier ll appear after christlers not after Hussains.

Hope this clarify..

Confused!!!

I would go for E. The meaning is not clear from the original sentence.
E is parallel.

Christler = it
owns = has.

"Hussains" is the object of the verb "owns" so, though not wrong, it is weird to be used as subject of the subordinate clause.

However, we can not say that THEY is ambiguous because Hussains is the only plural that can be represented by THEY.

B, C and D can be ruled out because Christlers is the singular.

I am confused between A and E. More tend towards E.

Is that Christler who has achieved iconic status or Hussains ?
