The problem with this question is that we are asked if LHS=RHS.
(1) is definitely sufficient. with either + or *, we get a firm answer YES.
(2) the only possible operation is division.
And with division, we get a firm answer to the question- NO.
aren't both the statements enough to answer the question asked?
