Very low score on practice tests - please help!

Hi there,

I have been studying for almost two months.
i have finished the 8 mgmat strategy guides, solved og 13 and solved half of the gmat test prep question pack 1.
I gave my first Gmat test prep test, score a 590! (Q41, V31)
then gave my free mgmat test, still the same! 590, (Q42, V31)

what should i be doing different? I am not running out of time, just missing information here or there that keeps holding me back..
I am giving my exam in 30 days, how the hell do i crack this dam thing...?

Hi kartikc11,

Since your scores appear to be consistent, these numbers might just represent the highest that you can score doing things "your way." To pick up those missing points and raise your overall score, you're going to have make some adjustments.

First, you might have to push back your test date. With only one month to go, I'm not sure if you have enough time to pick up points in both the Quant and Verbal sections. Next, you're going to have to acquire some new resources and learn some new tactics. Your scores show that you are a strong enough thinker to be scoring "above average", so you probably don't need much help, but you definitely need a consistent, expert perspective guiding you and you need time to make the necessary changes to "how" you're answering the questions.

You can ultimately decide which new resources to invest in, but it should probably be something more than just some new books. Many Prep Companies offer free resources so that you can sample their respective courses and perhaps purchase one. You can sample the Free EMPOWERgmat Data Sufficiency Workshop & Quiz (the link is below). It'll help you to pick up some DS points and if you like it, you should consider enrolling in the course. If you have enough free time to study, then you could learn enough in under a month to take your GMAT as scheduled. At the very least, you'll learn some new insights into Data Sufficiency.
