Hi everyone, this is my first post. I am trying to figure out a good study plan to up my score. I started my GMAT journey about a year ago when I took a GMATPREP test without any studying or even picking up a book. I scored a 650 (38 Math and 41 Verbal) and I was very encouraged. I thought I would be able to study on my own and decided to take a crack at it. I immediately got very busy at work and pushed my studying off. Before I knew it the new GMAT was right around the corner and I had to schedule my test. I scheduled it for May 19th and began studying the end of March. To be honest my studying was sporadic at best and I was traveling quite a bit. My practice tests were (MGMAT1 640, MGMAT2 660, GMAT PREP 1 670, MGMAT3 630, MGMAT4 680, MGMAT5 690, MGMAT6 700). I was very nervous going into the exam and I ended up with a 650!! Ending up where I began was disheartening but to be honest I could have had a more structured study schedule (I still put a lot of time into studying). I took the summer off and thought about applying R2.
In September I got a lot of time off at work, I decided to buckle down for 3 weeks and study and take the test again. I reviewed the Kaplan Math book and did very little (if any) verbal studying. I took the two new GMAT prep tests and got a 700 and 710. I went in and took the real thing and got a 690 (41 V / 43M). Given that I only improved in Math by one point and hadn't studied verbal it gave me the indication that simply by being less stressed I got a better score than before and that was probably where the previous 2.5 months of studying had gotten me. Now my job has indicated that they will pay for a review course and I was wondering what strategies / review courses anyone out there thinks will help me. I know that SC is my weakness in verbal and in Math it is pretty much across the board conceptually but DS is weaker.
Sorry for the long post but all-in-all if anyone has been in this situation or a similar one and has any ideas on how to get over the hump / tools that have worked for them to get those extra 50-60pts in the advanced portion of the test it would be much appreciated.
