1 gallon it goes 30 miles so 12 gallon tank of gasoline it goes 12*30 miles...
at the speed=50 miles goes in 5 hours it goes 250 mile
so 250/12*30=25/36

diebeatsthegmat,
First i did the same way. But i tried the other way also.
like in 5 hrs with 50 miles per hour the car has gone 250 miles.then it takes 1 gallon per 30 miles, so for 250 miles it must have taken 8 gallons (8*30= 240 miles). So its has used 8 gallons out of 12 gallons. thus the ratio is 8/12 = 2/3.

What am i doing wrong... ???
Thanks and regards,
Saurabh Mahajan

I am not diebeatsthegmat,
But i can give a try,
As you said car is traveling for 250 miles but then you calculate for 240 miles
infect it will be 8.33/12

Then it will come as 25/ 36

I did this way as well. :wink:

Ur approach is right except u did the wrong calculation

30 miles=1 gallon

250 miles=250/30=25/3 gallons.

Ration=25/3/12=25/36

Hope this clarify!!
