Yet VS But also VS Nevertheless Vs However

Can anyone shed some light on this?

1) He is a doctor,but he is not kind.

2) He is a doctor. However he is not kind.

3)He is a doctor,nevertheless he is not kind.

4) He is a doctor yet he is not kind.

Can anyone tell me which one is correct? Is there any difference in meaning or usage between yet, but, nevertheless and however?


Another example :

1) There is no such thing as love at first sight, however the feelings I had when I saw her was overwhelming.

2) There is no such thing as love at first sight. Nevertheless the feeling I had when I first saw her were overwhelming.

Please let which one is correct and why??

There is another example which I got when I was practising SC.

Belgrade is widely known as the capital city of Serbia, but it is also one of the oldest cities in
Europe and the largest in the territory formerly known as Yugoslavia.

A. capital city of Serbia, but it is also one of the oldest
B. capital city of Serbia, nevertheless also one of the oldest
C. Serbia's capital city, and it is also one of the older
D. Serbia's capital, but it is also one of the older
E. capital city of Serbia, but it is also one of the older

OA A

But I am confused with A and B

Please help me to clear this concept!!

The Question :

C D E are wrong coz after "older" we should have some comparison. X is older "than" Y or something like that. It is missing here.

B is wrong coz 'nevertheless' = 'in spite of that'. It doesn't fit here. Further ref -> https://forum.wordreference.com/showthread.php?t=1491894

A is correct as "but acts as conjunction and joins two independent clauses. but i am skeptical with the use of but instead of and, i dont think we need any contrast in the meaning rather "and " should suffice.

Experts please let me know your thoughts

Hey Guys,

First of all, please try to put only one question in each thread. I know it's annoying, but it makes everything so much clearer for everyone else.
1) He is a doctor,but he is not kind.

2) He is a doctor. However he is not kind.

1) This is pretty much great. The meaning is bad however, because a doctor isn't expected to be kind.
2) Who cares? The GMAT can't give you two sentences at once. However would not be a conjunction (it's an adverb), so this would be a run-on if it were a single sentence.
3) Nevertheless isn't a conjunction (it's an adverb), so this is a run-on sentence.
4) Same as #1, but should have a comma. (GMAT doesn't test comma usage, so you wouldn't see that split tested).

1) S-V Agreement is wrong. Feelings are plural. However is not a conjunction, so this is a run-on sentence.
2) Who cares? The GMAT doesn't test two sentences at once. Again, nevertheless is not a conjunction.

(A) Correct parallelism "is known," then simply "is."
(B) Nevertheless isn't a conjunction! (Getting bored yet?)
(C) "older" is a comparative, so it only compares two cities. "And" is weird from a meaning perspective, because they were trying to make a point that most people KNOW it's the capital, but they don't necessarily know the other facts about it.
(D) "older" mistake.
(E) "older" mistake.
