need some help with probability permutation combinations

hi,

is there a good site or a book which i can study permutation, combination? i have been trying hard to improve on this section but not been able to find the right stuff.
i would really appreciate if i can get a link on the same.

I highly recommend this book (I use it extensively in the Veritas courses that I teach). It is actually a lot of fun to study these topics!

The book recommended by David is definitely a very good one. However, I suggest that you should not spend too much time on such a topic that has only 1 question in the test.

If the question was only about permutations then 1 - 2 questions is true for most test takers, but once you put probability in there the number goes up.

In fact, between the 3 topics in this book -- 1. Permutations and Combinations 2. Probability and 3. Statistics there are more like 5 or 6 questions on the exam with about 3 of those being from probability and perm/ combo.

I agree that this should not be the first book that a person should study! Study Algebra, Arithmetic, word problems, number properties, and geometry first. But if you are trying to hit the high scores you may want to be able to work these problems as well.

Agree with you David ! Thanks for the clarification.

I just want to say that if he is struggling with Permuations and Combinations and doesn't have much time then Go and Ignore it !
I have seen some guys here did so and still got 700+

I completely agree. You can get over 700 with some weaknesses. My first test 7 years ago I was not great at sentence correction. Even now Geometry can make me a little nervous if it is too crazy!

I also agree that permutations and combinations is the first topic that a student should jettison if she/ he does not have enough time.

thanks for the quick reply. i think i am doing OK in other areas except for permutation and combinations. but somewhere i agree with you guys rather than wasting my time studying one topic, i should improve on other areas and make them my strength.
