why not E..

in the main clause the amount is given where as in the subordinate clause % is given..now 157 is an amount tht is 14 % higher than the pervious year's figure.

IMO

C sounds good too....but i guess E is more precise.

IMO E

A. which is 14% more than the previous year
B. which is 14% higher than it was the previous year
C. 14% higher than the previous year's figure
D. an amount that is 14% more than the previous year was
E. an amount that is 14% higher than the previous year's figure

14 % higher should be used... so between B , C and E

Why i chose E because the part of sentence "and largely offsets weak demand from Europe & Japan. " makes sense with "an amount"
