Simple but Good question...
Do you understand why the use of HIM is INCORRECT and HIS is CORRECT...
Wel, in this question HIM has no antecedent...the subject is symphony not shostakovich's..its a possessive and to refer it possessive pronoun HIS is required.
About Op E, HIMSELF is a reflexive pronoun
A reflexive pronoun indicates that the action of the DOER return to itself..for example
He burnt himself.
Here since the subject is as i mentioned symphony not shostakovich's, so u can relate it with the above example....Himself cannot be used for symphony...
