Film critic: As computer technology continues to become more sophisticated, movies increasingly exchange a cohesive and satisfying storyline for a series of improbable events designed to showcase special effects. The recent film Space Battle is a prime example of this trend. The main characters are not even properly introduced before the first computer-generated chaos engulfs the screen. Then the movie is off and running from one planet to the next with no theme except impossible action sequences and sarcastic one-liners. It is as if a new sport appeared with no consistent rules, no familiar players, and no laws of physics, not even gravity.

C) The first is an example that will be used to derive a general principle; The second is a counterexample used to weaken the general principle.
D) The first is a prediction of a future trend for which an illustration is provided; The second is an analogy used to strengthen the likelihood of the prediction.
E) The first is a premise used to support the main conclusion of the argument; The second is the main conclusion of the argument.
