As is used for Action comparison.
Such as is used for examples.

A. Like Rousseau (Noun), Tolstoi (Noun) rebelled

B. Like Rousseau (Noun), Tolstio's rebellion (Noun) was (Wrong: Like X,Y --> X and Y should be similar things. Here X is a person, Y is a Person's action)

C. As Rousseau , Tolstoi rebelled (Wrong: AS cannot be used for Noun Comparison)

D. As did Rousseau, Tolstoi's rebellion was (Wrong: AS X,Y --> Though X is correctly an action Y is a Noun)

E. Tolstoi's rebellion, as Rousseau's, was (Wrong: AS cannot be used for Noun Comparison)
