is x ≠ y?

xy < 0
x2y2 - 1 = 0
A Statement (1) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (2) alone is not sufficient.
B Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (1) alone is not sufficient.
C BOTH statements TOGETHER are sufficient, but NEITHER statement ALONE is sufficient.
D EACH statement ALONE is sufficient.
E Statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are NOT sufficient.

statement 1)
xy<0

that means one is +ve and one is -ve

thus they can never be the same, other than at 0 and luckily the equality is <0 and not <=0
sufficient

statement 2)

i guess the statement is x^2y^2 - 1 = 0
hence xy = +-1

here the values of x and y can be equal, for e.g x=1 and y =1
and not equal x=2 and y = 1/2
hence insufficient ....

IMO: A
