What is wrong with E

'E' means that the queen is asking Columbus to describe the discovery, rather than the island, which is in fact the case. It changes the meaning.

(A) After Queen Isabella asked Admiral Columbus to describe the island of Hispaniola (now Haiti), which was newly discovered, he had reached
(B) On being asked to describe the new discovery of the island of Hispaniola (now Haiti) by Queen Isabella, Admiral Columbus, reaching
(C) Queen Isabella asked Admiral Columbus to describe the newly discovered island of Hispaniola (now Haiti), then he reached - Wrong way of connecting 2 Independent Clauses
(D) When asked by Queen Isabella to describe the newly discovered island of Hispaniola (now Haiti), Admiral Columbus reached - CORRECT
(E) After Queen Isabella had asked Admiral Columbus to describe the discovery of the island of Hispaniola (now Haiti), he had reached - WRONG TENSE USED[/spoiler]

I agree with @vikram4689. IMO D

Also, in B, I think there is a modifier error. "by queen isabella" somehow implies that the discovery of the island was done by the queen. This is incorrect.

Also, is the non-underlined part of sentence of the form that is tested in GMAT. I mean I have never seen "..." used in GMAT sentences to show direct speech (I remember this from my school days in India :))

What is the source of this question? And please underline the sentence.
