Low Gmat strong - entreprenial experience

by sumithshah » Wed Aug 27, 2008 10:28 am
Hi

I just gave my gmat and missed my target by 70 points ( outch ) I scored a 650.

Some background about me :

- Graduated in Dec 2007 with a degree in Comp Sci and a minor in Business ( Marshall ) from University of Southern California

- Founded an IT company in India ( while I was still in college - raised funds for 1st and 2nd round ( totaling to ~ 90,000 USD). The firm is going strong and has spread to Singapore and Germany. We're in the midst of a complete sell out.

- Been a panelist and co speaker for a couple of Young Entrepreneur's conferences in Singapore ( @ Singapore Management University).

I want to apply to the 10 top - however, with R1 dates closing in Mid Oct, I'm wondering if I should give the gmat again and work simultaneously on my apps or completely forget about R1 and target R2.

Your help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Sumit

Dear Sumit,

There is no disadvantage to applying in round 2 versus round 1 as long as you meet any deadlines for international applicants. If you believe you can increase your GMAT by 30+ points, then I think it might be worth retaking and targeting round 2. You want to submit the strongest possible application, so take the time you need to make it the best representation of you. Having said that, I do not recommend pushing back later than round 2.

Good luck,
Lisa
