by sanju09 » Wed Mar 02, 2011 2:25 am
The cost of electric energy in an industrial town is $3 per unit for the first 100 units; $2.5 per unit for the second 100 units and $2 per unit for the remaining units. How many units can one get for $500?
(A) 175
(B) 180
(C) 200
(D) 225
(E) 250

100*3+x*2.5 = 500
=>2.5x= 200 =>x=2000/25 = 80

so 180.

An useless question yar, wat is the motive behind this crap trash.

First 100 units = 100*3= $300

Left : 500-300 = $200

x * 2.5 = 200 ; x=80.

So total = 180 for $ 500 .
