Hi,
I have a 2.98 gpa dual bachelors (BA/BS) in Biology and Finance from a liberal arts college in PA.
650 GMAT
I have 2 years of work experience in pharmaceutical marketing research/strategy consultancy and have been promoted once. I have lead a project and constantly working in a team setting.
So far I have been accepted to BU's Heathcare Management program, however I did not apply to any "top" MBA programs. Should I wait another year and take a shot at the top 10 programs? Is there any part of my profile that seems particularly weak?
Am I selling myself short?

Hi kevconsultant,
I'm no expert but... the only thing that may be a hinderance with your profile for a TOp 10 b-school would be GPA and GMAT... now the reason I say this is well... I too have a low GPA and I feel that if I get my target GMAT score, that will be the only thing that keeps me from being accepted to a top program. Your GMAT score is on the low side if you want to be competitive for a top mba program, so unless you were to take it again i think that combined with your GPA would put you at a disadvantage.
What discouraged you from applying when you applied to BU?

thx for the reply, I guess I didn't like my chances becuase of my GMAT Score. I woudl really like to get an MBA at an early age to maximize earning potential going forward however, I really don't want to settle for 2nd tier tho!

well just by you saying that you don't want to sell yourself short, you speak like someone who is determined and who has the mindset of those applying to top schools. you're young enough to where you could actually apply to the schools this year and still be good in terms of age... I on the other hand must apply this year... im 27, so i wouldn't want to wait any longer... it could also be something you could write about in an essay.. that you got into BU but decided not to attend because you wanted to aim a bit higher... when do you have to decide by?
