In the circle aboce , pq is parallel to the diameter OR and OR has length of 18. What is the length of minor arc pq?

a.2pie
b.9pie/4
c.7pie/2
d.9pie/2
e.3pie

cannot get the circle- please refer to og 11 pg. 180

I accompanying arc is going to be 70 degrees. so the circumference is pie 18 and I took 70/360 of pie 18. solution wants to take 70/180 of the pie 18. WHy? this makes no sense to me!

qa is a. I got c

The measure of the arc would be twice is inscribed angle and so the measure of arc PO would be twice of its inscribed angle which is 35 degrees. So the measure of Po is 70 degrees.

It is given that PQ is parallel to OR and so angle QPR would be equal to angle PRO and therefore measure if arc QR would also be 70 degrees.

Because OR is the diameter we know that the measure of arc OR is 180 degrees.

OP is 70 degrees and QR is 70 degrees so the remaining measure of arc PQ would be 40 degrees(180-70-70)

Length of the arc PQ would be 40/360*2(pie)(r) = 1/9 * 18(pie)=2(pie)

So the answer is choice A

I am still not seeing why the general rule is not applying to this situation. In general, you take the degree over 360 and apply it to the next matter. This time its out of 180 degrees. why?
