Though choice D and E both seems parallel.
the placement of all in E makes it the wrong choice.

I have a doubt
if E were

Michelangelo’s art, Edison’s inventions, and Shakespeare's plays all represent great achievements in human history.

which would have been correct D or E / or you consider both of them equally suitable ?
i never have a "TO -DO" list and i end up having a lot of "NOW WAT TO DO ?" lists

GMAT will never put the option E mentioned by you along with the correct option D.
So, you cant have something like this:
D) art of X, inventions of Y, plays of Z.
E) X's are, Y's inventions, and Z's plays

As there is nothing grammatically wrong in this option. There are always crystal clear reasons to eliminate wrong option and the option that is correct eliminates those errors.
HTH!!

If E was how you have stated, Both would be correct.
