I scored a weak 540 on Saturday when I was scoring 590-600 on GMATPrep tests and doing well on most questions in the OG 11. I don't know what happened. Felt the Quant. section was much harder than any prep questions I've encountered. I've been getting almost all of the questions right in the OG 11, so I'm at a loss.

If I can score above a 570, I should be good. I'm completely revamping my study method and will take the test again the second week in September. I have the 6 MGMAT tests, so I'm doing half of one each morning and will then review everything on the third day. So basically I will be taking and reviewing a complete practice test every three days for the next month and a half. I hope this works because I don't know what else to do. I felt comfortable going into the test and thought I'd do well.

My biggest weakness is the Quant. I thought I knew how to handle everything that would be thrown at me, but obviously not. Also, timing gave me more trouble than it ever did. I think by improving my timing and reviewing questions I have trouble with will give me the best results. I reviewed every question I did in the OG, but sometimes the explanations weren't great. I really don't know what else I can do. I think my timing on the Quant. definitely caused my score to be low, but the overall section really did seem much more difficult than I thought it would be.

what school are you applying that you feel a 540 wont get you in, but a 570 will?

Not asking in a negative way, just curious as to what gives you the idea.

The University of Hawaii. Their middle 80% range is 570-700. My grades are above average and I have great work experience. I've also made contact and had great discussions with many people at the school. If I can score within the range of where 80% of the people accepted score, I think (and was more or less told) that I should get in. A 540 is just unnacceptable. A 570 is 30 points higher, which I think is quite a difference.
