please explain the answer

none of the attempts to specify the causes of crime explanis why most of the people exposed to the alleged causes do not commit crimes and ,conversely,why so many of those not so exposed have

We are looking for parallelism here .

do not commit crimes and ,conversely,why so many of those not so exposed DO is the only one that fits and maintains parallelism .
