Hi Folks,
I am new to this forum and have been contemplating on taking gmat for last 6 mos. I have not registered for the exam yet simply because i would first like to get the feel of the exam model. I have read through various posts on BTG on how to begin the GMAT prep. I have following things on my to do list.
1. Download GMAT Prep sw.
2. Take the practice test and check on my score.(I have been an average student and weak in quant. so i am assuming anywhere around 200 score but would defnly take the test to set my expectations straight)
3. Prepare the study plan depending on my strengths n weaknesses(i cant afford a regular course so would prefer self study. already got manhattan gmat study guides).
4. stick to my schedule and i would register for the course as i make considerable progress.
I have a question for all you GMAT experts out there. Apart from studying and practicing for AWA, quant and verbal, what else does it take to have success in GMAT?
I have been a very aerage student throught my acedemics and I have observed that the students who aspire for GMAT and good B schools have more than just the good acedmic background. For ex: interest in politics, keeping abreast on all the current affairs and broad base of knowledge on varied topics ranging from finance, politics to fashion and entertainment.
Unfortunately I do not have such interests. I am not into reading various newspapers or reading informative magazines etc. I understand that having considerable knowledge in these areas would better my chances in cracking the AWA and also interview process. I would really appreciate if you guys can share some tips on how to succeed. My goal is not limited to cracking GMAT. I want to get admission in good schools..
Thanks!
Uma
