Correct way of approaching OG?

by uptowngirl92 » Mon Sep 28, 2009 5:06 pm
Hey guys..
I have my GMAT in around a mnth..Have already done OG11,verbal and quant guides way way back.Have the error log with which i am familiar.
Now i have OG 12 at my disposal..wanted to give a QUICK AND THOROUGH read..now now i know only 1/3rd of the questions are new but I have also read that most of the new ques are in DS,my weak pt and CR is bending more towards LSAT type..I don't want to go into the exam seeing more of question types i am unfamiliar with!!The review of OG 12 should'nt take more time in my opinion so i guess it's worth it.

Now,could somebody tell me what is the best way to approach?
Slots of 50 sums??or 30??or something else???
Just do the later half of each section??
4 days enough??or one week??

It really depends on your style. I used to sit down and do slots of at least 30 or even 50, but that's just me, I guess. If you don't have that much time, go for the last 50 or so questions in every section, stressing on stuff you're having trouble with. Don't forget to allot sufficient time for review, though - quantity is not as important as quality.

But if you do have enough time, do go for as much time with the OG as possible. Even if some of the first questions will seem a bit basic, there's a common feeling to official stuff that puts you in the right mindset.

Thanks Dana!!..This is what I planned..don't want to spend too much time on OG and too less is just wastage of time:

Planned to do it in 4 days(skipping the first 40-50 sums)
DS:slot of 30 questions
PS:.........40..........
SC:.........25...........
CR..........20.........
4 RC's everyday.

Since I have a whole day to myself I plan on brushing up Manhattan SC and Powerscore CR in these days.

The fifth day planning to take a test..Manhattan??
Depending on the results i'll see what to the in the last 3 weeks.

I believe if i sit for the test today i'll score around 650..aiming for 690-700.

Inputs?

P.S:I am glad i decided to do the OG12..I just finished my first slot of PS..this time under time constraints for the FIRST time(yes kicking myself)..I realise that the ticking clock is throwing me off..I am actually getting the problems I know by heart wrong :(

I guess it sounds solid - just don't overwork yourself, cause you won't get anything down properly if you just go for quantity without proper review.

Good luck!
