How to check my GMAT study progress?

Hello,

I took the 12th edition OG Guide Diagnostics Test to start. After doing miserably, I purchased a basic math refresher, and the first two Manhattan Gmat Quantitative books. I would like to test myself again to see where I score. Would it be foolish to retake the Diagnostics test since I am already familiar with the problems, despite getting most of them wrong?

Should I take a regular, free practice test? If I do, I won't have anything to compare it to.

Please, help.

If you are trying to boost your confidence, retake the diagnostic test. If you are trying to get a realistic take on how you're progressing, take fresh practice tests.

The diagnostic test questions on the official guide are fairly high level difficulty problems, so its actually pretty common to get most of them wrong before any gmat preparation.

If you have already completed a comprehensive review of math and verbal, you should definitely take an actual practice exam using the GMAT prep software. This will provide the most accurate measure your ability on the actual exam. And even if your score is not where you'd like it to be, at least you will have a good idea of areas of weakness to work on.
