Hi,
I took the GMAT for the second time today and scored a 620 (Q39,V36). My previous attempt was a 530 (Q32,V31) a month prior. I did the small group class for the Princeton review (27 hours) and reviewed the following material:
The Official Guide 13th (Q: 80% Data Sufficiency, 70% Problem Solving answered and All of the Verbal)
Khan Academy videos
Free GMAT Software
2 Practice Exams
Old Kaplan practice tests
After my first exam, I used the free software from GMAT and the 90 practice problems (timed). I believe my issues lie not in the questions, but in the time I have to answer. I took an un-timed practice exam and scored a 700(Q47V40), but I took 103 minutes in Quant and 80 in Verbal. This shows me that I do have the ability to answer the questions correctly, but my approach to the questions might not be the most efficient. Simulating the testing environment helped me the second time taking the test because I would take all day to answer the questions given in the Princeton Review (I took some breaks...)
In not taking any breaks and trying to simulate the test environment my scores were as follows:
4/19/14: First GMAT: 530 (Q32,V31)
5/4/14: GMAT Software: 510 (Q39,V22)
5/11/14: Princeton Review: 570 (Q38,V31)
6/7/14 (Vacation for 10 days): Second GMAT: 620 (Q39,V36)
I think my weakness is not in the difficulty or content of the questions, but in strategy to solve them quickly. The first time I took the exam was the first time I actually followed the time constraints of the exam.
So I have the option with Princeton review to re-take the small group class (free) or private tutoring (discounted). I've read on this and other forums about the EmpowerGMAT, GMATPill, OptimusPrep, and other resources. I would like to retake the test again in mid-July and score at least a 680. I'm considering purchasing from mba.com the 2 exam pack and additional question bundle.
What do you guys think would be the best way to spend the next month prepping for my re-take in July? I'm open to every option.
