Can I apply for admissions before appearing GMAT exam ?

Hi,

I would like to know whether i can apply for the B schools admission before appearing GMAT exam ?
Can i start my application process and later give my GMAT in jan ?
Are the US B-schools consider this strategy ?
Please let me know as soon as possible.

The policies differ from school to school. Most require that the GMAT be taken before the application is submitted, though some will accept a second score after the deadline but cannot promise a final evaluation will have not already been rendered.
