Hi Anup -

Thank you for providing your profile, and please accept my apologies for mbaMission taking a long time to answer you.

Here are the key strengths I see from your profile: experience in an unusual industry with a history of promotions, strong leadership in creative pursuits outside of your work experience, an interesting background in terms of your own activities and hobbies, and solid academics.

What I don't see or think you could improve on - first you do not mention a GMAT score; you want to be sure to leave yourself enough time to study and take it a couple of times, if necessary, since in an over-represented demographic of Indian technologists, you want that GMAT to be very solid (700+). Secondly, as you point out you do not have international experience; consider showing your sensitivity to diversity in other ways, maybe discussing an experience at work with people much older than you, or an experience outside of work with kids from a different socio economic past. Finally, as I mentioned you are from an overrepresented demographic (please see our blog post at www.mbamission.com/blog) called "overrepresenting your overrepresentation" for tips on standing out.

Your career goal has a logical flow with your hobbies and interests but at this point it does not appear that you plan on integrating much of your professional work experience into it. I think that could be a potential pitfall for you. The Admissions Committee wants to see a logical flow from your past to your present (the MBA) to the future, and not addressing in any way how your 4 1/2 years of work experience will prepare you for your future could make them question how successful you have been at it. If you go to our website and click on the Store tab, you can download a free copy of our Personal Statement guide which explains in far more detail what the committee is looking for and how to clarify that logical flow.

Best of luck with the application process,
