CR Strategy

by ronnie1985 » Tue Jan 10, 2012 8:18 pm
I have just started preparing for GMAT and I am discouraged by my performance on CR. Most of my answers do not match with that of the OG. Please help me to build the strategy to crack CR questions...

Thanks in Advance...

Try powerscore for learning how to approach the questions. Use it know what type of questions are being asked. Don't use too many strategies for CR, it will be detrimental and don't try to find patterns as well. I found 'thursdays with ron' more informative and MGMAT CR as well. If you are having hard time comprehending the argument, try taking notes - write down the conclusion and premises. You will comprehend better. Initially it will be a boring task, take your own time to solve and once you start seeing improvement you will be interested to solve more problems. Then you will learn to cut short notes based on your needs. Your speed will also improve.

Check these links for Ron's reply on what to concentrate on verbal. The most important part lies in what not to do for verbal :)

I thought the Powerscore CR Bible was the highest quality study book I used. I would go through that book 3-4 times and then run through as many practice problems as possible. That combination should produce really good results.

As sam has already provided you with ron's invaluable feedback for what to do in CR along with a successfull GMAT taker,IJR - I would like to add some more thing :
1. Try to solve every CR problem in this forum with explanation - and same for SC problem.
2. try to create one more stimulus with the same logic for a given problem ( specially for OG and verbal review CR ),
3. the most important one : read all expert's explanation for CR,everyday - see how they approach the given problem even if you get it right, is the way you thought is same as they thought - if it is then you are right. - This is the most most important thing in your preparation, to read expert's explanation.

Thank You. !!
