Hello BTG,
As someone who has just recently started perusing these forums, I am excited by the wealth of information accessible with regards to the MBA application and acceptance process.
My question is this - has anyone ever heard of anyone being dismissed from a university and later being accepted to a top tier B-school? My GPA fell below 2.0 in the beginning of my academic career, to the point where I was dismissed from school. Later on, I attended community college and then gained acceptance into a private school in FL (Rollins College). At the time of application to B-school, I will have had a 3.7 - 4.0 GPA at Rollins for just over 2 years and my overall GPA should reside at somewhere around 3.4.
I have just under a year left at Rollins and plan to start studying for the GMAT. I understand that I will need a 700+ on the GMAT to get to where I want to go.
I have worked a job since I was 15 years old (I am currently 24. I will be 25 at time of application). I will have worked a full-time corporate job for 4.5 years at a company in the medical field at the time of application. The company is family-run and I have been elected for succession, which means that it is a necessity that I gain proper management knowledge and grooming.
Other than hiring a coach, (I have a lot of research to do, there are so many and I am new)are any of you able to lend any advice? I believe in being blunt and direct as oppose to soft coating things. I appreciate any and all responses.
