MBA + CMA or CFA Advice

by CMAAdvice » Mon Dec 01, 2008 7:36 am
Hi Guys,

I am an engineer with 7yrs of experience in IT. I am ambitious and want to have a growing career which is very limited in IT. I have interest in finance and planning to do an MBA.

Now my question is: Since I do not have any work experience in Finance, I am planning to do MBA with CMA or CFA options. Please suggest me if it will help me and also if I will be eligible for it or not.

Consider that my GMAT score is 680+. I am interested in either
Schulich or Laurier School of Business (Part time). Will I qualify for these?

Thanks

Greetings,

I would think carefully about the CFA. The MBA is already a huge committment and the degree is helpful for many different career tracks. If you are 100% sure of your career objectives and know that you need the CFA, than put yourself in position to obtain both.

In general, I recommend that people recognize that an MBA is a great time to consider all your career options. You may have a very different outlook at the end of the MBA than you do now.

Finally, great work on the GMAT! You should, with a properly positioned application, be able to get into one of your target schools. Please let us know if we can be of assistance. We offer a money back guarantee if you don't get in!

Best,
