B school suggestion for GMAT 650 and 7 years work ex

Hi,
I took GMAT today and scored 650, quant 44(68 percentile) and verbal 35 (73 percentile) . I am an Indian female and have close to 7 years of work ex in IT consulting for banking and financial institutions. My 7 years of work ex comprise of 2 years in India and 5 years in US.  Is my score competitive enough to apply to top 20 b schools such as Insead, HkUST, HEC, ISB.. I'm looking for one year program..Appreciate suggestions for B Schools where I have good chance to get in provided I put up a competitive application.

Your profile looks good and can compensate your low work ex if you use your essays well and your recommendations are solid.

You can target the following short duration programs

Given that you
1) have good score
2) have a lot of relevant work experience and
3) are a woman (there are still relatively few in MBA programmes)
you have good chances at most B schools and will negate the fact that you are from India (which is, from my point of view, a drawback when applying, just because there are so many Indians looking to go to B school).

There aren't that many one year programmes in the US, so take a look at the top ranked European ones (Insead, IMD, Cambridge, Oxford, IE, Esade).

I'm sorry if my opinion is a bit contrary to what the others state. You need to improve your GMAT.

*ALL* schools in the top 15 have an average GMAT in excess of 700. Having a 50 point lower score means you end up spending all your time/energy convincing why they should take you.

Simpler option is retake GMAT and try to bump up your Quant score. A 44 means a 68th percentile - does not befit an engineer at all (and I should add - from India from heavensake! :P). Work on the quant part a little more and retake GMAT to score closer to the 700-mark.

Hi,

I'm planning to get ready for the applications for the next academic year.

Actually, I don't have a solid GPA, 2,5.

My work experience is quite well. I worked for Ersnt&Young, Loreal, Henkel and I'm working at GSK as a key accounts manager.

Next year, my total work experience will be 6 years.

Considering my poor GPA and combining it with my solid work experience, can I have a chance to be admitted to one of the TOP b-schools with a solid GMAT

You work ex looks good and surely if you get a good GMAT score you can compensate your low GPA.
