Two questions:

1) Do AdComs begin reviewing applications as soon as they are submitted or do they wait until the deadline for a particular round has elapsed and then release the entire pool for review?

2) Assuming they begin reviewing as soon as they are submitted, is there any benefit to submitting my application for Round 1 several weeks ahead of the early Oct. deadline so it's literally one of the first applications to be reviewed?

For background, I consider my likelihood of getting into several of the top schools to be fall somewhere in between a "slight stretch" and "good chance". The thought would be to try and differentiate myself from all the other investment bankers right out of the gate.

Is this thinking completely flawed?

Hi,

Thanks for your post. Please see my comments below:

Yes, adcoms usually do begin reviewing applications as soon as they are submitted in order to avoid the huge windfall that occurs each round just minutes before the deadline. That being said, I can't say that there is an advantage to applying before the deadline, as the admissions committee won't gather to make decisions until all applications have been read (this was the case during my time in admissions at Tuck).

2) Assuming they begin reviewing as soon as they are submitted, is there any benefit to submitting my application for Round 1 several weeks ahead of the early Oct. deadline so it's literally one of the first applications to be reviewed?

Not really, please see my response above.

For background, I consider my likelihood of getting into several of the top schools to be fall somewhere in between a "slight stretch" and "good chance". The thought would be to try and differentiate myself from all the other investment bankers right out of the gate.

I think your strategy of differentiating yourself from other investment bankers is indeed correct, however, you need not apply prior to round 1 deadlines to effectively do this (the exception being Columbia which has rolling admissions).

Best,

Stacey
