The numbers x and y are not integers. The value of x is closest to which integer?

1.) 4 is the integer that is closest to x + y
2.) 1 is the integer that is closest to x-y

Add the statements 1 and 2 to get the integer closest to x.

Stmt I

3.6 < x+y < 4.4

we can have an array of different values for x and y

Stmt II

0.6 < x-y < 1.4

Again, we can have different values for x and Y

Stmt I and II

x= 2.4, y = 1.4
x + y = 3.8, x-y = 1.0

x is closest to 2

x = 2.8, y = 1.5
x+y = 4.3, x- y = 1.3

x is closest to 3
