To find the area of the triangle use the formula area = 1/2*base*height.

We can find the area of PQS is 1/2*5*6 = 15.

Then just subtract 15 from 40 to find the area of triangle QRS. This gives you 25 or choice D.

We can see that: (area of ∆PQS) + (area of ∆QRS) = (area of ∆PQR)
So, we can write: (area of ∆PQS) + (area of ∆QRS) = 40

We also have enough information to determine the area of ∆PQS
Area of triangle = (base)(height)/2
So, area of ∆PQS = (5)(6)/2 = 30/2 = 15
Now add this information to our equation to get: 15 + (area of ∆QRS) = 40
Solve to get: area of ∆QRS = 25

Answer: D

Since the area of triangle PQR is 40, and the area of triangle PQS is ½ x 5 x 6 = 15, the area of triangle QRS is 40 - 15 = 25.
