Is x>y?

(1) 6x>5y

(2) xy<0

The OA is the option C.

Experts, how can I determine whether or not is x>y? I couldn't solve this DS question.

(2) xy<0
Statement 1: x > (5/6)y
Case 1: x=1 and y=1
In this case, x=y, so the answer to the question stem is NO.
Case 2: x=2 and y=1
In this case, x>y, so the answer to the question stem is YES.
Since the answer is NO in Case 1 but YES in Case 2, INSUFFICIENT.

Statement 2: xy<0
xy<0 implies that x and y have DIFFERENT SIGNS.
Case 3: x=1 and y=-1
In this case, x>y, so the answer to the question stem is YES.
Case 4: x=-1 and y=1
In this case, x < y, so the answer to the question stem is NO.
Since the answer is YES in Case 3 but NO in Case 4, INSUFFICIENT.

Statements combined:
Statement 1: x > (5/6)y
Statement 2: x and y have different signs
Statement 1 will not be satisfied if x is negative and y is positive.
Thus, to satisfy both statements, x>0 and y<0, with the result that x>y.
SUFFICIENT.

The correct answer is C.
