If two lines do not intersect each other, then they are parallel to each other. Two lines that are parallel to each other have the same slope.

Since the slope of one of the lines is given, statement 1 is sufficient.

If we know that two lines intersect, the only possible information that we can deduce from here is that both these lines have different slopes. Without any other info, this statement is insufficient.

Choose A.

A for me as well.

In stmt 2, if two lines intersect: the lines may be perpendicular or may not be.
so insufficient.
