If the Longfellow Playground is rectangular, what is its width?

(1) The ratio of its length to its width is 7 to 2.

(2) The perimeter of the playground is 396 meters.

My answer is C. Both the statements independently are not sufficient. Combined, the ratio information & perimeter information will help us determine the length & breath.

my answer is C

EXPLANATION:

statement 1)
gives only the ratio of length to width so can't find the width
L:W=7:2

statement 2)
gives 2(L+W)=396, which is not sufficient to find W

1) & 2) together 2 unique and different equations so the two unknown terms L and W can be found.

my answer also is C

EXPLANATION:

statement 1)
gives only the ratio of length to width so can't find the width
L/W=7/2

statement 2)
gives 2L+2W=396, which is not sufficient to find W

1) & 2) can solve it.
From (1) we can say that:- Actual Length=7x and Actual Breadth=2x
From(2):-
2L+2B=396
2(7x)+2(2x)=396
x=22

=>L=7x=154
B=2x=44
But we dont need to solve it, just have to test that the given data is Sufficient or not.
