Given: (x + 2) = (x + 11)/(x + 3)

Simplify this by multiplying both sides by (x + 3) to get
(x + 2)*(x + 3) = (x + 11)
x^2 + 5x + 6 - x - 11 = 0
x^2 + 4x - 5 = 0

This is what we needed. The value of x^2 + 4x - 5 is 0.

Answer (C)

Given: x + 2 = (x + 11)/(x + 3)
Multiply both sides by (x+3) to get: (x + 2)(x + 3) = (x + 11)
Expand and simplify: x² + 5x + 6 = x + 11
Subtract x from both sides to get: x² + 4x + 6 = 11
Subtract 11 from both sides to get: x² + 4x - 5 = 0

Answer: C
