Paper Test Q

If a,b,k, and m are positive integers, is a^k a factor of b^m?

(1) a is also a factor of b

(2) k<=m (k is less than or equal to m)




I am still going through previous posts on this site so if this has already been discussed elsewhere, please provide a link to it here for me.

Otherwise, a detailed explanation will be greatly appreciated.

a^k is factor of b^m?

Statement 1 tells us a is a factor of b. The statement above is true only if k <= m. So IMO answer is C. What's the OA?

a^k is factor of b^m

I can only use example actually. Let a is 3 and b is 6. Also plug in k = m = 2
Here we get 3^2 is a factor of 6^2 (9 is a factor of 36)
However 3^2 is not a factor of 6^1
