Question on Each

He recommended that each driver report his tips

In the above sentence, why is the verb 'report' plural? Shouldn't the verb that follows 'each' be singular?

Appreciate explanation. Thank you.

It's a subjunctive. An easy way to spot it is to extract it and put it in a simple sentence, like "I recommend that you do your homework". To form a subjunctive you use the simple form of the verb without "to", so it will be recommend that each driver report

I hope this helps

Thank you for your response. My question was more on why a plural verb is being used after 'each'.

kpetrova123 explains it well, vemuri.

the sentence has the command subjunctive form
recommended (order word)+that+subject (each)+verb, where the verb should be of the infinitive form (bare form without the "to").
so report is correct here. singular/plural/ 1st -2nd-3rd person/ does not matter here.
