Ave and Median

If the average of five numbers, x, 7, 2, 16, and 11 = the median, what is x?
a. 7 < x > 11
b. x is median of the five numbers

IMO A

A. x can be 8,9,10.

But only when x = 9 , mean = median

B. Insufficient.

Statement (2) is same as Statement (1)

I think you mean 7<x<11 right?

(A) implies that x=9, since x has to be the median (middle) number and must also be the average. Since 9 has numbers "evenly-spaced" on its left and right, it's the average too.

(B) if x is the median and average, then x must be 9.

So (D) IMO
