OG 12 Data Suff. Section 79

Hello,

I'm at work and don't have my book with me but I wrote this question down and I am stuck on it. It in the official guide, question 79 in data suff. section. It is asking if computer one in State A is more expensive than the same computer purchased in State B. Can someone help explain this answer to me. I see why #1 is not sufficient but I believe statement 2 is.

(1) t1>t2
Tells us nothing about P, therefore insufficient

(2) p1t1 > p2t2
Assume the following
p1 = 10
t1 = 10
p2 = 10
t2 = 7

Thus, p1t1 > p2t2

However, assume
p1 = 10
t1 = 10
p2 = 20
t2 = 4

Thus, p1t1 > p2t2

100 > 80

But the overall purchase price of p2 = 24 which is greater than 20(overall purchase price of p1)

Therefore, combining both statements where t2 < t1, which I have already done above, yields no solution.

Thus, answer is E

I think it's pretty straightforward. The total cost of a computer must be (p1 + p1 * t1/100) OR (p2 + p2 * t2/100).

You only have the statement p1t1 > p2t2. From this stmt, you cannot determine the total cost of a computer.
