by kaulnikhil » Sun Jul 19, 2009 9:56 am
The answer given says draw a line perpendicular to diameter .. How can i be so sure that the perpendicular drawn intersects the circle and triangle exactly at a location where the circle and line intersect . I mean to say the point E could have been left or to the right to the actual position .If if it is so then we wont be having a triangle ABE, which is essential for reaching the conclusion

The answer: D

when you draw the perpendicular.. u can calculate length of the chord and thus the area of the sector.

Just redraw the diagram ..such that the square is vertical..and u will find that AE = EC..and there is no other possibility.
