Is x less than y?
(1) x-y+1<0
From the statement.... x-y<-1
=> x<y-1.
==> x is less than y.
(2) x-y-1<0
From the statement x-y<1
x<1+y
==> x is greater than y.
Hence each statement alone is sufficient to solve the question.

should be A..
Reason .. stmnt 1--->x-y+1<0 ==> x< y-1 ==> x < y..suff
stmnt 2 ---> x-y-1<0 ===> x < y + 1 ..not suff.. becoz
take e.g... 2< 2 + 1 for x = y
3 < 4 + 1 for x < y
2.5 < 2 + 1 for x > y... since x and y cud be any number and need not be an integer as its not specified

x<1+y
now say y=2;
then x<3
that means x can be 1, 2, 2.5 etc.
so nothing can be said about x while comparing with y.
