1) x<2
2) y<5

The OA is E.

Why both statements together are not sufficient? If x<2 and y<5 then xy <5*2 < 10. The correct answer should be C. Am I wrong?

Statements combined:
If x=0 and y=0, then xy = 0, so the answer to the question stem is YES.
If x=-10 and y=-10, then xy = 100, so the answer to the question stem is NO.
Since the answer is YES in the first case but NO in the second case, the two statements combined are INSUFFICIENT.

The correct answer is E.
