I have a overall experience of 10 yrs in IT field. Initially I worked as a developer, then moved to be a team lead , then a project lead(doing kind of management work) with a reputed IT company A. When I left this company I was in a lead role doing management/analysis work, however when I joined the company B, I have to again switch back to doing tech work(development/lead) since I could not get a role to match my earlier role in the previous company. So as a means of survival I had to go back to doing programming. However it has been my long time quest to go for MBA studies and get into real management work(more towards business, not a project management kind of role). I have started my GMAT study recently and plan to give my test in march sometime. However, I'm in kind of a dilemma as to

1. Whether the colleges where I plan to apply for would take into consideration my management exp from past or just look for the most recent exp(pure tech and no management). How will they weigh my experience?.
2. Can I really cash on my MBA degree going forward, considering my age (33 when I plan to go for MBA studies)
3. Is part time/evening mba/ executive MBA a best option for me at this age or going to a regular fulltime school.I personally like to go for a fulltime MBA in school.

I request all experts on this forum to help me clear my dilemma and suggest me a best course of action.

thanks,
Andy

Hi Andy, same boat here. Although I have slightly more exp, about 14 :) still I think doing a full time is worth the effort. Currently I am doing a executive MBA sponsored by company. That has convinced me even more that it is much more worthwhile to do it full time. I cannot comment on other questions on how much you can cashin on your MBA etc. Maybe someone who has done MBA after 10-12 yrs of Exp can comment. But I can say one thing, if it is possible to you to do a full time MBA you should do it. Follow your heart.
