Question about Masters in Financial Engineering Admissions

I know that story, essays, and recs are absolutely critical with MBA admissions, can anyone shed light on the Financial Engineering admissions process? Is it more similar to MBA admissions or would it be closer to law admissions where gpa and test scores are all that matter? Thanks in advance.

Hi Osirus,

The admissions process for a financial engineering degree (and for a master's in accounting, and other specialized programs like that) will usually look more like those of general graduate programs. So, usually a personal statement and recos, but less emphasis on "your story" and more interest in your past academic background. For instance, such a program will usually want at least one reco comes from a professor or academic advisor, while an MBA program will prefer recos that come from the workplace.

So, think of other engineering and general master's programs, and you're pretty close!
