GMAT-710 (Q49 V38) AWA:4.5
Educational Qualification-BE (Electronics & Telecom),Mumbai University
GPA-3.25
Extra CurricularActivities-
As the Joint Cultural secretary of Student Council in college i was in charge of organising several techno-cultural events and raising funds for the needy. Was one of the contributors to making the college festival a part of the college tradition fighting all odds.
Profeesional Background:
Work Experience- Currently 2 yrs, Will have 2yrs 10months(i.e almost 3yrs) by the time i join school in Aug 2010.
Quality of experience:
Joined a mid sized IT firm as a programmer trainee. Switched my career path from software development to project management. Worked as the Project Management Officer for a project which was in deep trouble at the time i joined. On successful completion i was promoted to the Project Management Office of an entire delivery unit consisting of 80 such projects within 4 months. Currently working in the Project Management Office for the North American Accounts and majorly responsible for ensuring process compliance & adherence and financial data analysis.
Extra Curriculars-
Active part of the CSR mwith a special focus towards children. Mentoring kids from the slums of Mankhurd as a part of a mentorship program. Spend festivals like christmas & diwali performing special programs for street children and taken them for picnics. Part of tree plantation drives, clean up drives, environ mental awareness drives,etc.
MBA Aspirations:
Interested in doing an MBA in General Management from a university with good placements. An MBA would help me grow in my current role & give me the authority to take up larger responsibilities.
Shortlisted Colleges (In no particular order):
Based on my aspirations i have shortlisted the following colleges
1.Boston University
2.Boston College (Caroll)
3.Penn State (Smeal)
4.UC Davis
5.UC Irvine
6.UC San Diego (Rady school of Buisness)
7.UCLA
8.USC (Marshall)
9.Rice
10.Simon School of buisness (Rochester)
11.George Town
12.UT Austin (Mc Combs)
13.Indian School of Buisness- Hyderabad
14.Great lakes -Chennai
Now I'm having a tough time shortlisting the 7 colleges i should apply to. Can you pls suggest the Top 7-8 colleges suitable for me, to which i should apply and i have good chance of getting admitted to.

In terms of credentials, I think you can get accepted into any of the schools on your list. You have a quality GMAT and great extra curricular activities.
As for what schools you should apply to, I would need more information to figure that out. Do you want a large or small school? Does location and weather matter? Rural or Urban? Picking the school you want to get into is extremely important and will help you produce a top notch application. We have a three hour consulting package that you might be interested in to help you figure out the best schools for you.

i wld say i'm not very rigid about any of the aspects you've mentioned above. I'm ready to give all the sacrifices for getting into a good B-School.
All i want to make sure is that the school has good placements even for somene like me with a little under 3yrs of work experience.
My priorities are as follows:
1. Good placements
2. Good quality & vast variety of courses/programs offered
3. ROI
4. Financial Aid (Not a mandate though)
Could you hep me eliminate any of the above colleges on the basis of my requirements above.
