Unfortunately, I haven't ever been to the campus, but I was thinking about applying there. It seems like Thunderbird, U. of South Carolina, and Wharton are always the top 3 for International Business. Thunderbird is built on an old military base that was sold to a former General after World War II (if memory serves).

Ultimately, I decided not to apply there, even though I am interested in International Business. The deciding factor for me was the fact that Thunderbird's MBA isn't that highly ranked as an overall program. Also, I noticed that it offers Post-MBA Certificates and online courses in International Business. I figured that I could always get such a certificate in the future. Who knows, maybe a future employer will even pay for your studies there for "Continuing Education".

I know I sort of rambled on about my own thoughts on Thunderbird, but I hope that you were able to get something out of it that you can use. Good luck!

I'd be wary of Thunderbird only because the Financial Times rankings list it as the very lowest Return on Investment among decent or better U.S. schools.

Lots of debt for too little pay-off. That said, they specialize in training career-switchers w/ no formal knowledge of business, finance, etc.

I highly recommend thunderbird first and foremost for the network. I have attended seminars and talked to many Alumni and I can tell you that there is no school out there with a better Alumni Network. Wherever you are in the world for instance, you have a reunion of all Tbirds on every first Tuesdays of the month which is a great event to network and socialize among all thunderbird students.

Let me explain a little the fact why Thunderbird's has the lowest return on investment: One of the major reasons is because there is a large number of students that are from India, Latin America, China etc... and most of those students end up going back to their native countries: Working for J&J for instance in Chile right as a first job post graduation would pay u about 40-60 k, but working for J&J in the US can easily start you at 90 or 100k. So you have to keep into consideration that many students work in developing countries and some in under developed ones as well which drastically plunges the avg or ROI. But let me tell you, if you want International, you have to go to TBird. I think it is one of the very few US schools where its reputation overseas is a lot more prestigious than its reputation locally + great Alumni Network. Best of luck for your search!

I think omaradi is right. The stats do not do the school justice since it is cater to applicants who will pursue a career outside of the U.S. post graduation. The school is worth looking into if you want a career outside of the U.S., but I have no idea exactly how prestigious or well known Thunderbird is in the international business scene

I have two years experience teaching, and have lived in Egypt for 5 months and Korea for almost 2 years. 660 GMAT.

Thunderbird is the only school I've applied to, as I am a career switcher and value the international aspect of the school. If I'm not accepted, I may try to find a job in business (now I'm a teacher) and prepare for the GMAT and B-school again in a couple years.

Incredibly proud to say I was accepted and offered a $20,000 scholarship. I think I'll accept and matriculate in the fall, but I'm still pondering if the $60,000 debt is something I'm willing to incur right now or not. I'm leaning towards it being a worthwhile investment.

@Nstick I hope u made the smart decision of investing in yourself and not worry about the 60k balance that you would incur for the simple and true fact that investing in yourself will yield 10 fold the return of.any real estate or stock Investment U know why? Because a very wise man call Big O the great once said: " 20$and 30$ are for learning, 40$ and 50$ are for earning!"
Go get your mba, dont be cheap, interests are low, ull pay it.off in 2 years at the most.

Wow 660 and.youre worried not.to get in : i did with a 500 how ever speak 5 languages fluently and come from an strong engineering background which im sure my chances dramatically, also coz im BigOda great and am very modest lol
But i definately admire your high standards and persistence 2 major qualities that will serve u well in your Future!

In gmat terms aim for HBS so if fail ull land in Glendale AZ aka zi ghetto which hapoens to b where Thunderbird is located at ( im from AZ)
