evidence for/that/of

Is there a specific expression(idiomatic) we should know about "Evidence" followed by a preposition or should we just pick one based on overall structure and the meaning of the sentence?

There are quite many possibilities - the best idea would be to look it up in a good dictionary. The most common preposition is "of."
The other prepositions that can be used are for example: about, against, for, on

There is also a phrase "on the evidence of"
e.g. On the evidence of his latest exhibition, Miller is an artist who is past his best.
